About Me

My name is Wyatt McConagha, and I'm a senior at Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C. I found my love of photography when I injured myself playing football. To stay connected with the athletic community, I picked up a camera and taught myself how to use it.

My work has earned national recognition through the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, the nation's longest-running program for creative teens, and has been featured in publications including The Washington Post. I'm also the only student contributor to the Sidwell magazine and I've had the chance to shoot alongside pro teams like the Baltimore Ravens and Carolina Panthers.

Sports photography is my main focus, but I also shoot events, theatre performances, portraits, and whatever else comes my way.

Scholastic Art & Writing Awards

Euphoric - Gold Medal

The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards is the nation's longest-running and most prestigious recognition program for creative teens. Since 1923, it's identified young artists and writers through a two-stage judging process — regional, then national — with past winners including Andy Warhol, Sylvia Plath, and Stephen King.

  • Gold Medal (National Recognition) — the highest honor in the entire program. Only Gold Key-winning work is even eligible, and national medalists make up less than 1% of all submissions nationwide.

  • Gold Key — the top award given at the regional level. Every Gold Key automatically advances to national judging.

  • Silver Key — high honors at the regional level, recognizing standout technical skill and originality.

  • Honorable Mention — regional recognition for accomplished, promising work
